Account
  • Can I add additional vehicles (with their own Salik tags) to my existing Salik account?

    Yes. You can add additional vehicles to your existing Salik account. Each vehicle should have its own tag. You can add a new tag to your existing account through one of our channels below:

    • Contact our 24 HR Salik self-service on 800 Salik (72545) then:
    • Choose the language: 1 for Arabic or 2 for English

  • Can I have a different Salik account for each of my vehicles?

    No. If you have multiple vehicles registered in your name, then you have only one Traffic File Number. Your Traffic File Number can only be used for one Salik account and vice versa. However If you own a vehicle in another Emirate than Dubai, you may request to add it to your existing account.

  • Can I transfer my Salik account balance to a friend or relative or claim my Salik account balance?
    Recharge balance in Salik accounts are not refundable nor transferable. The balance will remain in the account for up to 5 years, if there are no activities done such as account recharge or a trip after which it will be forfeited.
  • What happen if I buy a pre-owned vehicle?
    If you buy a pre-owned vehicle, you have to remove the existing Salik tag off the vehicle's windshield. You have a grace period of 10 working days from the date and time of your first trip through Salik gates to purchase, activate and stick a Salik tag on your vehicle, otherwise violations will occur.
  • How can I check my unpaid trips?
    Once you are logged in to your account at  www.salik.ae or Smart Salik application, you will see a dashboard showing your recent activities. If you have any unpaid trips, you will see a countdown timer showing the remaining time before they turn into violations if not paid.
  • How do I check my account balance?

    To check your Salik account balance you may use one of the channels below:

    • Contact our 24 hr Salik self-service on 800 Salik (72545) then:
    • Choose the language: 1 for Arabic or 2 for English

  • How do I manage my Salik account online?

    You can manage your Salik account online through www.salik.ae or Smart Salik app.

    You can now avail the following services online:

    • Buy a SALIK tag online (currently available only through Salik website)
    • Activate your SALIK tag
    • Update mobile number
    • Update Plate number
    • Deactivate Salik tag
    • Recharge your account
    • View Toll trips
    • View account statements
  • How much does it cost to purchase a SALIK tag?
    Salik Tag cost is AED 100. This includes AED 50 for your Salik tag and AED 50 for the prepaid toll balance that will be added to your Salik account upon tag activation. If you purchased the Tag online, there will be an additional AED 20 for delivery  charges.
  • I am one of the 'Determined People', how can I apply for the Salik fees exemption?

    You can apply for the exemption, by:

    • Visiting any of our customer service locations across Dubai.
    • Visit www.salik.ae then click on Salik services then click on People of Determination Exemptions option.
    • Contact our 24 HR Salik self-service on 800 Salik (72545).

    You can apply for an exemption from Salik toll fees if you are a person of determination in any of the following areas:

    • Mental
    • Physical
    • Autism
    • Visual

  • What happens if I sell my Vehicle?

    If you sell your vehicle, you need to remove and discard the old Salik tag from the sold vehicle and remove the vehicle  from your Salik account immediately. Failure to do that will result in charging any toll fees incurred by the new vehicle's owner to your account and might turn into violations if there was no balance in your account. You can deactivate the tag through any of the channels below:

  • What happens if I change my plate number?

    If you change your plate number, you may continue using the same Salik tag, however you need to update this information in your account's details, Failure to do so may result in violations. You can do that through any of the following channels:

  • How do I update my new mobile number in my Salik account?

    You can update the mobile number in your Salik account through any of the channels below:

    • 1 for Arabic or 2 for English

  • What happens if I do not use the toll gates for a long period of time?
    The balance will remain in the account for up to five (5) years if there are no activities done such as top up or a trip after which it is forfeited.
  • What happens if I don’t have enough balance in my account when I pass through a Salik toll gate?

    If you pass through the toll gate with insufficient balance in your account, you have a grace period of five (5) working days from the trip date to recharge your account. Failure to do that, will result with a violation of AED 50  incurred each day (if trips were made) per vehicle.

  • Will I get a SMS from Salik if there are any changes to my account?

    Yes you should. However the SMS service is a value added service therefore you are responsible to check your balance regularly to avoid any violations. You can do this through any of the channels below:

How does it work
  • Do I need a Tag to drive through Salik gates?
    Yes. A Salik Tag needs to be installed on every vehicle passing through Salik gates. Failure to do so may result in violations.
  • What happens if I don’t have a Salik tag and I drive through a Salik toll gate?
    • If you drive through a Salik toll gate without a Salik tag on your vehicle, you have a grace period of 10 working days from the date and time of your first trip to purchase, activate and stick a Salik tag on your vehicle (or add the new tag to your existing Salik account, if you have already bought one). Failure to do that, violations will be imposed as follows:
    • AED 100 for the first trip you drive through Salik toll gates (after the 10 working days grace period)
    • AED 200 for the second trip (after the 10 working days grace period)
    • AED 400 for each subsequent trip (after the10 working days grace period)
    • All the above mentioned violations are limited to one violation per day per vehicle
Parking
  • Are all Dubai Mall parking zones subject to fees?
    Zabeel and Fountain View parking are not subject to fees and remain free for now.
  • Are people of determination exempted from parking fees?
    Yes, people of determination are exempted from Dubai Mall Parking fees, but before that they need to apply for the exemption through Salik channels. For more information, Click here to check for the POD eligibility list.
  • Are senior citizens and residents exempted from parking fees?
    Currently, senior citizens and residents are not eligible for exemption from parking fees.
  • Are there Salik tag sales/support outlets in Dubai Mall?
    You can purchase Salik tag online from www.salik.ae, or through Careem Quick, or any of the petrol stations across UAE.
  • Can I pay for parking in other malls using Salik balance?
    Currently, you can only pay for Dubai Mall parking fees using Salik, no further information is available for other locations.
  • Can you charge my account instead of the vehicle owner's account / can I pay separately?
    The Dubai Mall parking fees will be deducted from the Salik account which the vehicle is registered in.
  • Do I get an SMS notification when you start charging me/before the free hours finish?
    This is not an available service, in order to use Dubai Mall parking, you must have an active Salik tag and online Salik account, it's recommended to regularly monitor your Salik account balance using Salik website and online channels, and keep it recharged to avoid falling below a certain threshold.
  • Do I need a Salik tag to use the parking facilities?
    To use Dubai mall parking facilities, you must have an activated Salik tag and Salik account.
  • Does the Dubai Mall parking fees apply on vehicles with international plates or owned by tourists?
    Yes, To use Dubai mall parking facilities, you need to have an activated Salik tag and Salik account.
  • How are the parking fees calculated and deducted, is it upon entry or exit?
    Parking fees are based on the number of hours consumed in the parking as per the business rules after the end of the free hourse (4 during weekdays and 6 during weekends from Friday to Sunday). The amount will be deducted from your Salik account when you exit the parking facilities.
  • How can I dispute the parking fees?
    Should you disagree with the parking fees, please email us at [email protected] or contact us at 800 Salik to raise a dispute or visit one of Salik customer happiness centers. Our customer service team will address your concerns and initiate the dispute process on your behalf.
  • How can I know how much do I have to pay per stay in the car park?
    Please visit Salik website www.salik.ae, and login to your Salik online account to know more about the due parking fees. You can also learn more about the Dubai Mall Parking Tariffs by visiting Dubai Mall channels.
  • How long do I have until I pay the parking fees in case, I parked with no balance in my Salik account?
    To use Dubai mall parking facilities, you need to have an activated Salik tag and Salik account and enough balance in your account, if you don’t have enough balance, once Salik account is recharged, the pending parking fees will be deducted from it.
  • How much are the violation fees if there is not enough credit or an active Salik tag?
    To use Dubai mall parking facilities, you need to have an activated Salik tag and Salik account and enough balance in your account, if you don’t have enough balance, once Salik account is recharged, the pending parking fees will be deducted from it.
  • How will Dubai Mall parking system work?
    When a vehicle enters the paid parking zone, a camera captures the plate number. The Salik system processes the image, recognizes the plate number and the related Salik account, and records the entry time. Upon exit, the system again scans the plate number, and records the elapsed time in the parking lot and calculates the parking fees and deducts it from the identified Salik account.
  • If I have pending both toll & parking transactions and I recharge my account with an insufficient amount, which will be deducted?
    You must ensure that your Salik account balance is always recharged to cover all your transactions from Toll and Dubai mall parking.
  • If I use Dubai Mall parking without an active Salik tag, how long is the grace period?
    When using the Dubai Mall Parking, you can enjoy 4 hours of free parking during weekdays, and 6 hours of free parking during weekends from Friday till Sunday, after which you will be charged as per the approved parking Tariffs.
  • Is there a maximum limit on parking fees?
    Yes, the parking fees in Dubai Mall gradually increase until they reach a maximum limit of 1000 Dhs per 24 hours+, after which the Dubai mall reserves the right for violating the vehicle by the authorities involved (Dubai Police, etc.)
  • What happens if I am not registered with Salik and I use Dubai Mall parking?
    To use Dubai mall parking facilities, you need to have an activated Salik tag and Salik account. Once the vehicle is registered with Salik, the pending parking charges will be deducted from your Salik account balance.
  • What happens if I don’t have enough balance when I park my vehicle at Dubai Mall?
    Your Salik account will reflect a pending parking transaction, which will be deducted from your balance as soon as you recharge your Salik account.
  • Where can I pay parking fines?
    Any pending parking transactions will automatically be deducted once your Salik account is recharged. If you leave your vehicle in the Dubai Mall parking for more than 24 hours, there will be violations by the authorities involved ( Dubai Police, etc.), and you can pay them through these authorities' channels.
  • Will the amount be deducted directly from the Salik balance, or is there any subscription or activation required?
    To use Dubai mall parking facilities, you must have an activated Salik tag and Salik account. The parking fee amount will be deducted from your Salik account.
  • Will the parking transactions statements be separate from the toll statements?
    A consolidated report is provided, showing both toll and parking transactions but segregated in different sections in the same report.
  • Will vehicles exempted from Salik fees also be exempted from Dubai Mall parking fees
    Vehicles exempted from Salik fees, including People of Determination, Police, Ambulances, Civil Defense, are also exempted from parking fees at the Dubai Mall.
Recharging
  • Can I set up my account to Auto Recharge?
    Yes you can. In fact this is the easiest and most convenient way to manage your Salik account and avoid any violations. Auto top ups are available through banks, however  you will need to confirm with your respective bank if they provide this service or not.
  • How do I recharge my Salik account?

    There are multiple channels to recharge your account:

    • If you have a recharge card or e-voucher you can recharge your account through 24-hr Self Service Contact Centre on 800 Salik (72545), SMS, Smart Salik App, Dubai Drive App and Salik website.
    • Auto top ups through banks.
    • You can recharge using your credit card through Smart Salik app, Salik website, Careem App or Tamm. You can use Kiosk machines and CDM (EmiratesNBD and DIB banks) to recharge by cash.
    • Just choose the method that is easiest for you here.
  • How do I recharge someone else's account?

    You can Recharge someone else's account if you have their account number and PIN or even easier if you have their Mobile and plate number. You can do so through the channels below:

    • Contact our 24 HR Salik self-service on 800-Salik (“72545”) then:
    • Choose the language: 1 for Arabic or 2 for English
    • Press 3 to login to your account

  • What is the min/max recharge amount per transaction?
    The minimum recharge amount is AED 50 and maximum is AED 50,000 per transaction.
    Note: Recharge amount should be in multiples of 50. For eg: 50, 100, 150 and so on…
Smart Salik / Website
  • How do I log in to the Smart Salik App?

    To log in simply tap the "Sign In Now" button and enter your Username and Password. If you have never set up a User Profile before, tap on the "Sign In Now" button and a new screen will open. Tap on the "New Online User" button and follow the instructions.

    If you have already set up an Online Profile on the website just use the same Username and Password.

  • I need help setting up an online user profile on Salik Website or Smart Salik App
    If you are having trouble setting up your online user account using the wizard, please contact us on 800 Salik (72545) or through [email protected] and we will be happy to assist you.
  • On Salik website or Smart Salik App, I am being asked to enter my Tag number. What is this?
    You will find the tag number on the back of your Salik tag. When entering the number into the required field, ignore the "DTS" printed before the digits.
  • Using the Smart Salik App, how do I log in to my online account using my fingerprint?

    When you first log in to the new Smart Salik App, your phone will ask you if you want to set up a fingerprint. Just follow the phone's instructions and you will be able log in simply by using your fingerprint.

    If you already have an account and you want to add your fingerprint, you will need to delete your profile and create a new one on Salik Smart App.

  • What is the happiness meter?
    It is one of Dubai's first strategic Smart City initiatives. You can rate your experience while using the Smart Salik App or Salik website by choosing the Happy, Sad or Neutral face and giving details regarding your experience.
  • Why does Smart Salik app require access to my Camera/microphone services on my Smartphone?
    The Smart Salik app will access these services to allow you to use the OCR feature to read the numbers when recharging. On Android devices, the camera service is not separate from the microphone hence both services will be accessed.
Tags
  • Can I pass through Salik toll gates immediately after I purchase my Salik tag?
    You should activate your tag before crossing the Salik gates through Salik website, Smart Salik App, Dubai Now, Dubai Drive or through Salik Self Service on Salik Call Centre 800 Salik (72545) to avoid any violations.
  • Can I move my Salik tag to my other vehicle?
    No, Tags are not transferable. Each vehicle should have its own tag.
  • Can I start using the toll gates once I order SALIK tag online?
    Yes you can use the Salik gates once you receive a SMS of the successful payment. Once you receive your tag you must stick it correctly on your windshield to avoid any violations.
  • Do I require to submit any documents for online tag purchase?
    No. You only need to mention the vehicle details from the Vehicle Registration Card to purchase a tag online.
  • Do tourists need to Purchase a Salik tag
    If you’re visiting from another  country with your own vehicle then you must purchase, activate and stick a Salik tag on your vehicle.
  • How can I track my shipment?
    Your shipment can be tracked at www.aramex.com using the shipment number sent to you via SMS. 
  • How do I activate my Tag?

    You should activate your tag through one of the channels below:

    • Dubai Drive App
    • Salik website: www.salik.ae
    • Or call our 24-hr Salik self-service on 800 Salik (72545) then:
    • Choose the language: 1 for Arabic or 2 for English

  • How do I stick the tag on my windshield ?
  • How long will it take to receive the Salik tag ordered online?
    You should receive your Salik tag within five (5) working days after receiving a SMS confirmation of the successful payment.
  • How will the tag be delivered?
    The tag will be delivered to you via a shipment company at the shipment address entered during the purchase process. Please note that some areas of the UAE are outside of the delivery area. Please check these areas here.
  • If I purchase a tag online, do I need to activate my tag once it's delivered?
    No. Your Salik tag would have been activated automatically once you receive a SMS of the successful payment. Once you receive your tag you must stick it correctly on your windshield to avoid any violations.
  • What if I damage or lose my tag or it is stolen?

    If your Salik tag gets damaged you need to purchase a new tag to replace it. 

    If your Salik Tag is lost or stolen you need to Deactivate it immediately or you will be responsible for any tolls incurred by that tag and you need to replace it with a new SALIK tag. You can Deactivate the tag through one of the channels below:

  • What is the cost of purchasing a Salik tag online?
    The total cost of a Salik tag online is AED 120. This includes AED 50 for the cost of the tag, AED 50 for the prepaid toll, which will be added to your Salik account and AED 20 for the cost of delivery. Please note that some areas of the UAE are outside of the delivery area. Please check these areas here.
  • Where can I purchase my Salik tag?
    You can purchase your tag online here, and it will be delivered directly to you. Your tag will be automatically activated after we process your online payment.
    OR
    You can purchase your Salik tag from selected branches of Emarat, EPPCO/ ENOC or ADNOC petrol stations. Alternatively, you can also purchase Salik tag through Careem App or AW Rostamani - Arabian Automobile.
  • Who can purchase a Salik tag online?
    Online tag purchase is available to individuals with vehicles registered in the UAE. If you are a Fleet or Corporate customer, please contact Salik on 800 Salik (72545) to enquire about online tag purchase service.
Tolls & Charges
  • Are Salik gates free on public holidays?
    No. Trips through Salik gates are chargeable during the holidays and chargeable 24/7 hrs.
  • How can I avoid the usage of Salik toll gates?
    Download the RTA Smart Drive App or visit www.rta.ae or S'hail App to find alternative routes.
  • I own/purchased an electric vehicle, do I need to pay Salik fees?
    If you own an electric vehicle, you are eligible to get a free Salik tag only. However, the trips through Salik Toll gates will be charged the normal fee of 4 AED for each trip. Electric vehicles are not exempted from Salik toll fees.
    You can collect Salik free tag for electric vehicles only through Salik Happiness centres in Dubai upon providing the vehicle registration card.
  • If I pass through Al Mamzar gate and then the Airport Tunnel gate, will I be charged at both gates?
    Yes. Al Mamzar and Airport Tunnel gates are two separate toll gates with a toll fee of 4 AED for each.
  • If I pass through Al Mamzar North toll gate and then Al Mamzar South toll gate, do I pay twice?
    If you pass through Al Mamzar North and Al Mamzar South toll gates in one direction or vice versa, within one hour and without exiting the highway in between the gates, you will be charged once only.
  • If I pass through Al Safa toll gate and then Al Barsha toll gate, do I pay twice?
    Yes. Al Safa and Al Barsha are two seperate toll gates with a toll fee of 4 AED for each toll gate.
  • If I pass through one of Al Mamzar gates, take the next exit and return through the Salik toll gate on the opposite side of the road, will I be charged at both gates?
    Yes. You will be charged once only if you pass through Al Mamzar North and Al Mamzar South toll gates in one direction or vice versa within one hour.
  • Is there a VAT Charge of 5 % on SALIK services?
    The rule of 5% VAT is not yet applicable on any Salik services such as recharge, purchase new tag and toll fees.
  • What are the free timings of Al Maktoum Bridge toll gate?
    Passing is free along Sunday and free for the rest of the days from 10:00 pm - 6:00 am
  • What kind of disabilities are listed under Salik Exemption rule?
    You can apply for an exemption from Salik toll fees if you are a person of determination in any of the following areas:
    • Mental 
    • Physical 
    • Autism
    • Visual

Violations
  • Can I Re-dispute my violations if I don’t agree with the result of the previous dispute?
    If you have any further evidence that supports your dispute case, you have the right to re-dispute the result of your previous dispute by submitting your request in writing, along with your additional evidence, to any Customer Happiness Center or send it to: SALIK: PO Box 11889 - Dubai - United Arab Emirates or by sending it to [email protected].
  • How do I know if I have any Salik violations?

    You can view your recent trips, pending trips and violations on:

    • Smart Salik App
    • Dubai Drive App
    • www.salik.ae
    • If your vehicle is registered in Dubai, you can view the violations on Dubai Police website, and if your vehicle is registered in any other Emirate, you can view the violations on Abu Dhabi Police website

    You can pay your Salik violations online at:

    • www.rta.ae (Click "violations Enquiry & Payment")
    • www.dubaipolice.gov.ae (if it's a Dubai plate number)
    • www.adpolice.gov.ae/en/ (if it's a non Dubai plate number)

  • I have received violations that I do not think are correct, what can I do?

    You can dispute your Salik violations through one of the channels below:

    • Call us on 800 Salik (72545) and speak to our customer service representative
  • I need to renew, re-register my vehicle registration and I have already paid my SALIK violations; can I still dispute my violations?

    Yes. You can dispute a violation that has been posted to your account up until vehicle registration is due or within the last 13 months, even if it is paid. If it is a wrong violation you will receive a refund.

  • Is my violation legitimate if I didn’t get a SMS saying I had insufficient balance in my account?

    Yes. You may not necessarily get a SMS if your Salik balance has run out. You are responsible for making sure that your tag is registered and that you have enough funds in your account to cover your road tolls. You can check your balance through:

  • Someone else was driving my vehicle when I got a Salik violations. Do I have to pay it?
    Yes. As you are the owner of the vehicle, you are responsible for paying all tolls and violations, regardless of who was driving at the time of the violations. 
  • What are the different types and amounts of Salik violations?

    Insufficient Funds (ISF violations)

    If you drive through a Salik toll gate with insufficient balance in your Salik account to cover the toll fee and you don’t recharge your account within 5 working days from the date and the time of the trip, you will get a AED 50 violations. There is a maximum of one violations per day per vehicle.

    Unregistered Plate (URP violations)

    If you drive through a Salik toll gate without a registered Salik tag on your vehicle and you don’t purchase and register a tag within 10 working days from the date of the first trip, you’ll get a violations of :

    • AED 100 the first time trip
    • AED 200 the second trip time, and
    • AED 400 each subsequent time you drive through a toll gate.

    There is a maximum of one violations per day per vehicle.

    In the event of tampering Salik Tag through manipulation or fraud, a AED 10,000 violation will be imposed.

    In the event of causing damage to Salik toll gates, Self Service recharge machines or assets owned by Salik, a AED 10,000 violation will be imposed.

  • Where can I pay my Salik violations?

    You can pay your Salik violations online at:

    • www.rta.ae (Click “violations Enquiry & Payment”)
    • www.dubaipolice.gov.ae (if it's a Dubai plate number)
    • www.adpolice.gov.ae/en/ (if it's a non Dubai plate number)
